Port Out Starboard Home

This time I read Port Out Starboard Home. So I am going to introduce the book. Sometimes when the true origin of a word isn’t known (and sometimes even when it is), entirely fictitious theories and tall tales emerge to try to fill in the gap. These so-called folk etymologies often provide neater, cleverer, and wittier explanations than any genuine etymology ever could, all of which fuels their popularity and makes them all the more likely to be passed around—but sadly, there’s just no escaping the fact that they’re not true. So many words we missunderstand the true are explained here. I feel I am so interested of the book while reading because I can learn the origine of English words by reading it.

Sherlock Homes

This time, I read Sherlock Homes. so I am gong to introduce the plot. Although the character has been used in many adaptations of Sherlock Holmes stories, Irene Adler only shows up in this tale. She is often portrayed as Sherlock’s love interest, though he did have a bit of a crush, it was more a respect for her wit. The story begins with a visit from the King of Bohemia in disguise. The king is engaged to a young Scandinavian princess from a very conservative family. The problem is five years before, the king had had an affair with a beautiful opera singer, Irene Adler. She was in possession of some love letters and a photo of the two of them together. He needed it back, but all attempts to retrieve it had failed, including burglary, threats and bribes. He offers Sherlock a thousand pounds to get it. Sherlock accepts the job. In disguise, Sherlock finds Irene just as she is marrying a successful lawyer and preparing to leave for America. After setting up a plan with Watson, his tr

The Curious Incident of the dog in the night-time

I read  The Curious Incident of the dog in the  night-time. So I will introduce this by using some quote. 1.He was asking too many questions and he was asking them too quickly. They were stacking up in my head like loaves in the factory where Uncle Terry works. When people volley a series of questions at the narrator Christopher Boone, his brain can’t keep up. The questions stack up too quickly, and his brain short-circuits. Here, Christopher explains that he needs time to process each question logically. The way Christopher’s brain works makes everyday conversations, especially heated ones, especially difficult for him. Christopher ends up feeling overwhelmed and oftentimes resorts to groaning to block out the sensory overload. Christopher’s stressed response to social disorder limits his ability to handle confrontation throughout the book. This will not be a funny book. I cannot tell jokes because I do not understand them.   Christopher’s autism limits his ability to participa

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

Harry Potter sereise is one of the most famous tales in the world. This time, I read Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. firs of all, I am going to introduce the plot of the story.  Harry Potter has lived under the stairs at his aunt and uncle's house his whole life. But on his 11th birthday, he learns he's a powerful wizard -- with a place waiting for him at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. As he learns to harness his newfound powers with the help of the school's kindly headmaster, Harry uncovers the truth about his parents' deaths -- and about the villain who's to blame. This is one of my favorite books because the story is very easy to understand and the author's way of  writting is so descriptive so I can picture the scene with ease.

Jaws

This week, I read Jaws. So I’m going to introduce the book.  The novel Jaws tells the story of a monster fish, a Great White Shark, that starts attacking swimmers off the coast of America. The scene is the sleepy coastal island of Amity, near New York, where tourism is the main business. At first, when a Great White Shark attacks and kills a young woman, the businessmen who run Amity do not want to close the beaches down - if they do, the tourists will stay away and the town will lose money. No warning about the shark is given to tourists, therefore, and children and adults continue to swim in the sea. However, soon a small boy is killed by the shark - and then two more people are killed... Brody, the local chief of police, closes down the beaches. From now on, the story becomes a hunt for the shark by three men - Brody himself, a young scientist called Matt Hooper, and a tough fisherman called Quint. The three go out in Quint’s boat, and a terrifying battle begins between the shark an

Jumanji

Can you imagine taking out your favorite board game to play only to find that with every move you make something from the board comes to life? While reading this story, the unimaginable becomes real.  Judy and Peter have been left alone at home while their parents have an evening out together. The two are sister and brother. Judy is the oldest, and Peter is the youngest. Judy is careful, brave, and likes to follow exactly what the rules that have been set whether it's rules set by the parents or rules of the game. Peter is the younger brother that's carefree in the beginning but becomes easily frightened once the board game begins. Throughout the story, Judy is always mindful of the decisions that are made, and by the end of the story, Peter is as well. The story takes place inside the home of a family of four. The characters are the mother, father, Judy, and Peter. Judy and Peter are the main characters in the story. Before leaving them alone at home, their mother warns them t

Forrest Gump

This week I read Forrest Gump. This is originally a movie and I have watched it so I was able to read easily. Basically, the story is comedy yet you must shed tears at the end of the book. So, I’m going to quote a line which is my favorite. Life is like a box of chocolate so you never know what’s gonna happen. This is Forrest’s mother’s words. Forrest has a disability so he is bullied by boys who are go to the same school of Forrest’s; however he overcome it thanks to the mother’s words. After that all things Forrest does are successful so the story makes me happy. The book is very descriptive so I was able to picture the scene easily plus people who appear in the book are iconic so you must enjoy it as well as I do.
